Trueo Plans Move From Base to Ethereum Mainnet

Prediction market protocol Trueo plans to move its primary deployment from Coinbase-backed Base to Ethereum mainnet, citing greater integration potential, network effects and a stronger fit with its long-term decentralization goals. The migration has been announced but is not yet complete, with Trueo’s existing contracts and roughly $793,000 in current TVL still residing on Base. The protocol originally launched on Base in March 2025.

According to Trueo’s official migration announcement, Base provided a lower-cost environment while the product was experimental, but Ethereum now offers a better foundation for a platform intended to become broadly integrated, permissionless and largely immutable. Trueo said its priorities after the move will include attracting liquidity to key prediction markets and launching the next generation of its oracle system.

Ethereum Migration Keeps Base Markets Running

The transition will be phased rather than an immediate shutdown of the Base deployment. Trueo has asked users not to create new Base markets expiring after January 31, 2027, directing longer-dated markets toward Ethereum once the new instance becomes available. Existing Base markets will continue trading, settling and supporting redemptions during the migration, including markets that remain unresolved after Ethereum launches.

TRUE will remain the protocol’s governance and oracle token, and holders will be able to migrate their tokens to Ethereum without a fixed deadline. Trueo also uses TYD, an ERC-4626 yield-bearing stablecoin backed by USDC and powered through Yearn Finance, as the default payment and collateral asset within its current prediction markets. The open-ended TRUE migration reduces deadline pressure for token holders while allowing the existing Base system to continue operating during the transition.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin publicly welcomed the move, describing Trueo as focused on decentralization and ethical prediction-market design rather than what he called “not corposlop.” Buterin’s comments amount to public support for the project’s direction, not a partnership, investment or technical role in the migration. His response followed Trueo’s argument that Ethereum provides a stronger environment for building a credibly neutral prediction-market and oracle system.

Oracle Design Sits at the Center of the Move

Trueo’s existing resolution architecture already uses several escalation layers. A disputed outcome can move from an initial challenge to the Oracle Council, then to a TRUE-holder vote and ultimately to randomly selected attesters under specified conditions. The design attempts to distribute dispute resolution across progressively broader groups rather than leaving final authority with a single centralized operator.

The protocol also commits each market’s question, resolution criteria and approved sources on-chain when the market is created. Trueo says that structure is intended to prevent rules from being changed retroactively after trading begins. Moving to Ethereum does not itself make disputed outcomes more accurate, but Trueo argues that mainnet’s integration depth and decentralization properties better match the oracle architecture it wants to build.

The next concrete milestone is the Ethereum deployment itself. Ethereum contract addresses, liquidity migration and the launch of Trueo’s next-generation oracle will provide the first evidence of whether the announced network-effect benefits materialize in production. Until then, Trueo remains an active Base protocol preparing to migrate, rather than a prediction market that has already transferred its approximately $793,000 in TVL to Ethereum.
